this ain't the end of the line, son.

i've been feeling really discouraged and down lately, and i'm not even sure why. it's at moments like these that i feel that praising and rejoicing in God (although that's what my goal should be) is just the last thing i want to do. it's so hard to be grateful for the life that i've been given, whereas it's so easy to go 'f(orget)ml' and just mope around. it's times like these where Christ's cross becomes so small to me, quite the opposite of what i fight for when in times of joy. it's times like these when i just give up hope completely, forgetting my identity in Christ.

but it's also times like these when i NEED to keep my eyes on what matters most. He's the one who will pick me up and put me back on my feet - he'll help me up again when i admit defeat. even though i feel down, beaten, bruised, and worn, i know that this isn't the end of my story. i have someone who WILL be there for me even if i feel lonesome. i WILL have hope in my savior, for this doesn't end here. now isn't forever.

so even though all i see right now is depressing stuff, i know that there is hope. there's hope in the gospel, because 1. i don't deserve to live this life i'm living, but.. 2. He has given me a life to live that i'm now living. i need to turn my eyes on Him and His saving work on the cross, and all the while, keep these words repeating in my head:

there.
is.
hope.
